Starting therapy or coaching can bring up a lot of questions. Below, you’ll find answers to common concerns to help you feel more informed and comfortable before booking your first session.
General Questions
I’ve never talked to anyone before. I’m used to handling things on my own. Does going to therapy mean I’m weak?
Not at all. Asking for help is a sign of strength. It takes courage to acknowledge when you need support and to take steps toward change. Therapy isn’t about weakness—it’s about learning new ways to manage life’s challenges and build on your strengths.
What’s the difference between talking to a therapist and talking to a friend or family member?
A therapist is professionally trained to help you navigate challenges in a structured, confidential, and unbiased way. While friends and family can offer support, therapy provides:
- A judgment-free space where you can talk openly without worrying about burdening others.
- Practical tools and strategies tailored to your situation.
- Deeper self-awareness, helping you recognize patterns and make lasting changes.
- Confidentiality, so you don’t have to worry about anyone else knowing your business.
If your challenges are causing distress, therapy can provide the structured support you need to move forward.
Why shouldn’t I just take medication?
Medication can be helpful, but it isn’t always the full solution. Therapy helps you address underlying issues, build coping strategies, and make lasting changes. For some, a combination of therapy and medication is most effective. If needed, I can help you explore whether medication might be a helpful addition by referring you to a psychiatrist or medical provider.

- Individual Therapy Session (55 minutes): Ongoing sessions focused on addressing challenges, building coping strategies, and working toward your therapy goals.
How long will I need therapy?
The length of therapy depends on your individual needs, goals, and the challenges you’re facing. Some people see progress in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. We will regularly check in on your progress and adjust as needed.
